Cornwall Air Ambulance was the first of its kind in the country and has been flying since April 1st 1987. To keep the distinctive red and yellow helicopter in the air the charity needs to raise around £1.6million a year. We are a life saving charity which receives no government or lottery funding and we are entirely dependent upon support from local communities, individuals and businesses. From its base at Newquay Airport, the air ambulance can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes and the Isles of Scilly within 28 minutes, and on average arrives on scene within 12 minutes of a 999 call. Attending around 1000 emergencies a year we airlift patients with potentially life threatening medical conditions and serious trauma injuries and we are there for everyone – old or young, holidaymaker or resident. Cornwall Air Ambulance plays an important and crucial role in saving time and saving lives.
